			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>March is <strong>National Nutrition month</strong> and it&#8217;s also the start of spring meaning we can really make some great changes to our lifestyles in order to eat better. One way I think everyone could improve their eating habits is to learn how to read a nutrition label. I think if this is not taught in schools already, it needs to be taught. The school I attended did not teach this, in fact I didn&#8217;t even have a health class.</p>
<p>Here is an example label taken from the <strong>FDA</strong> website, you can find more information on <a href="http://www.fda.gov/food/labelingnutrition/consumerinformation/ucm078889.htm">how to read a label here</a></p>

<p>As you can see, a label has a lot of things on it. One thing that we really need to look at is how many servings are in what we are eating. A serving may be all you should have of one thing, while something else may be okay to have two or three. It all depends on the product and your own nutritional goals. For me as a diabetic I could only eat one serving of this macaroni and cheese, while others I could only have half a serving.</p>
<p>I love yogurt not only can you eat it for breakfast, but it&#8217;s a great snack and very, very yummy too. I enjoy my yogurt in smoothies, in parfaits and of course all by itself. I received a few samples of <strong>Yoplait Original Yogurt</strong> with more calcium recently and I&#8217;ll have to admit I had switched over to another brand recently because of cost, but because of these samples I think I&#8217;ll be switching back. The flavor and variety is much better and I also love the that the yogurt has more calcium.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;m thinking I may try planning my meals ahead of time so that I know what I&#8217;m going to eat instead of trying to figure it out when I&#8217;m hungry. I&#8217;ve done this before and it really helped me out.</p>
<p>My biggest problem is that I never have any idea of what to make, that&#8217;s why I&#8217;m going to make better use of my  <a href="http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/register.asp?referredby=4259688&amp;from=friend" target="_blank"><strong><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #ff7b08; font-size: small;">Free Online Diet Plan</span></strong></a> <strong><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; color: black; font-size: small;">at SparkPeople.com</span></strong> and my Step360 meal plans. I need to lose this weight and now that I have a couple of friends on Spark People I&#8217;m ready to lose and have some fun doing it.</p>
<p>A few of the meals on my list are:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Steak and Brussels sprouts with fruit for dessert</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Roasted Turkey with Carrots and beans</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Oatmeal with blueberry&#8217;s</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Mediterranean Chicken &amp; Brown Rice Casserole</p>
<p>These all sound so good and yes there are recipes for a couple of these. Check back during the next couple of weeks to get a few of these and other great recipes.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When your trying to <strong>lose weight</strong> having <em>good tasting food</em> is a must. That is why I love to use spices in all of my cooking so that nothing is boring and food still stays fun. I received some awesome spices from <a href="http://www.redmonkeyfoods.com/index.php">Red Monkey Foods</a> and I have to say I enjoyed cooking with them and am planning on buying a few more spices from them very soon.</p>
<p><a href="http://saveyspender.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/1285006867_mangoHabanera.png"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-3769" title="1285006867_mangoHabanera" src="http://saveyspender.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/1285006867_mangoHabanera.png" alt="" width="88" height="200" /></a>My favorite <strong>spice</strong> to use was the <a href="http://www.redmonkeyfoods.com/products_detail.php?id=53">Mango Habanera Rub</a>. The rub had a great flavor and a wonderful kick that added just  the right amount of interest to you food. I loved using it on chicken  and tuna and it really added something to all of the food I put it on.</p>
<p>Red Monkey doesn’t just carry normal spices, they have a large  selection of mixes and rubs to choose from. On my wish list is the <em>Raspberry Ripcurl Sugar Twister</em>, <em>Lemon Pepper Rub</em>, <em>Southwestren Mesquite rub</em> and their <em>All Purpose seasoning</em>. Really they have something for every meal and every dish you could ever think of. I’m just thinking how yummy that <strong>Raspberry sugar Twister</strong> will be on some toast or a cupcake, yes I still let myself have a cupcake from time to time. This after all is a lifestyle change for me, not a diet.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Recently I was asked to <a href="http://saveyspender.com/2010/07/20/tumaros-tortillas-review/">review Tumaro&#8217;s Tortillas</a> on my <a href="http://www.saveyspender.com">giveaway blog</a> and I loved them so much that I had to share them with you here. <a href="http://www.tumaros.com/">Tumaro&#8217;s Tortillas</a> come in a few different variates but the one I received was a low carb multi-grain tortilla and I was very impressed with them. Not only are they low carb, but they taste good and fill you. They are low carb because they have a ton of fiber, you know the stuff that fills you up without adding a bunch of carbs and calories. I love fiber! Anyway, I used these <strong>tortillas</strong> for everything from breakfast and lunch wraps to baked chips.</p>
<p>I love this product and I think anyone looking to lose weight will too, you can find these tortillas in health food stores nationwide or you can check out their website to order directly from them.</p>
<p><strong>Lunch Idea</strong></p>
<p>Turkey and Lettuce Wrap</p>
<p>1- Tumaro&#8217;s tortilla</p>
<p>1 tablespoon ranch</p>
<p>1 cup shredded turkey breast or deli style turkey breast</p>
<p>1 leaf of Romain lettuce</p>
<p>1 cucumber sliced into long pieces</p>
<p>Add all of the ingredients into the tortilla and roll up for a nice crunchy fiber and protean filled lunch!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This time I&#8217;m going a little extreme, I&#8217;m bringing my carbs down to about 20 a meal and I&#8217;m going to try to stick with it 7 days a week with one splurge meal. This isn&#8217;t a diet really its a lifestyle change. The main reason this is hard is that healthy food can cost a lot, but since the warm weather is here we are able to grow a lot of our fruit and veggies making eating healthier a lot less expensive. </p>
<p>I also decided that Monday is a good day to start the new diet so that I can get though Easter without stress. Yes if I had started this a few weeks ago, Easter would still be my splurge day, so it&#8217;s not really that bad. I could almost say the diet starts Sunday, but I won&#8217;t. </p>
