			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Okay so I almost didn&#8217;t get this post up today. It&#8217;s 10:30 at night and I&#8217;ve just had a very long day. I did get all of my exercise done for this week in some way shape or form and I&#8217;m looking forward to this weeks challenge. </p>
<p>This weeks <strong>Fitness Challenge</strong> is:</p>
<p>Exercise for 45 min 5 days this week and do weight lifting at least twice</p>
<p>Add an extra serving of veggies to one meal each day</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I think I did well last week, though I didn&#8217;t get &#8220;walks&#8221; in, I did do a lot of walking so I&#8217;m okay with it. I think I actually got about three hours worth of walking in so I will count this week as a success and I exercised twice on top of that. Now for this weeks challenge.</p>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Cut one bad food out of your diet</p>
<p>I&#8217;m hopping on my Step360 this week and I&#8217;m cutting out pop, even diet.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s May that that means that it is once again National Fitness Month! This year I am once again going to do a challenge for you and myself. It will be a weekly &#8220;Get Active&#8221; challenge along with adding some nutrition challenges in as well.</p>
<p>The difference this year is that at the end of the month I will pick one person who will win a great fitness related prize. I&#8217;m still working on the specifics and I will update you all and let you know what the prize will be.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>1983 was a great year, not just because I was born that year, but because that is the year that <a href="http://www.fitness.gov/getmovingamerica.htm">National Physical Fitness and Sports Month</a> was created. It&#8217;s been 28 years now and people all over still hold events and acknowledge the significance of learning more about our health and being active.</p>
<p>I have talked before on this blog about how important nutrition is and shown you <a href="http://www.mylossmygain.com/2011/03/22/heathly-living-with-yoplait-givaway/">how to read a nutrition label</a>, now I want to stress how important being active can be. I struggle with this myself and if you are a regular reader of My Loss My Gain you know I have a hard time being active. At the end of 2009 I started this blog with the intent to lose 100 lbs in a year. Now I year and a half later I&#8217;m still about the same weight, though I have lost and regained pounds in the process.</p>
<p><strong>Some statistics on the Benefits of Exercise:</strong></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">•  Burning just 1,000 calories a week can lower your stroke risk         by 24%</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">•  Coronary heart disease caused 476,124 deaths in 1996. Exercising         for 14 minutes, 5 days per week can decrease your death risk         by 46%.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">•  Regular exercise decreases breast cancer risk by 20%.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">•  Unfit men are 80 percent more likely to die of cancer than         fit men.</p>
<p>Here are some of the things I&#8217;m going to be doing this month to get and stay active.</p>
<ol>
<li>Workout for at least 30 minutes on my Step360</li>
<li>Walk my dog for at least 30 minutes 3 times a week (they need to stay fit too)</li>
<li>Keep hydrated so I can stay active</li>
<li>Encourage my friends to join me on walks and for other physical activities</li>
<li>Eat better so that I have the energy to be active</li>
</ol>
<p>Last year I started a challenge for national fitness month and this month I am doing it again. Every week I will post a challenge every Monday, so check back for that post tomorrow, until then check out this great <strong>GNC giveaway</strong>.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This week I did not get everything done. I only got 2 days of weight lifting in along with only 4 days of walking. It&#8217;s not bad at all and considering it wasn&#8217;t done out of me just being lazy I&#8217;m happy. One problem was rain, I hate doing anything in the rain, but on top of that I just have not been feeling well. I&#8217;m surprised I managed to get what I got done. I did manage to add one more good thing to my diet plan, more veggies and protean. As a diabetic I have been concentrating on carbs way too much.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve learned from this week so I am going to change things a little.</p>
<p><strong>This weeks challenge is:</strong></p>
<p>Continue doing 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week.</p>
<p>15 minutes of strength training 4 times  this week.</p>
<p>Subtract something unhealthy from your diet.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m going to try to just keep walking, it relaxes me, but I know when there is rain I need to get up and do something so that is where the other cardio option comes in. I&#8217;m also going to work on staying away from cake. We got an ice cream cake for mothers day and I kept sneaking little bites from it.</p>
